There was a time when Facebook was fading (I already think MySpace may as well be already gone) but things are picking up, well certainly here in Australia.

From smh.com.au:

FACEBOOK continues to bamboozle the experts with its growth in Australia, topping 8 million users last month and forcing companies to rethink the traditional use of broadcast TV to reach millions of people quickly with advertising.

The only other site staging runaway growth in Australia, according to the latest Nielsen Online figures for August, is Twitter, whose user numbers are up 979 per cent in the past year to 1.5 million. Twitterites appear to be a breed of their own – less than 20 per cent of them are also signed up to the likes of Facebook and MySpace.

I often see Twitter pushed in local media (insert MX here) and the crossover user rates of <20% is an interesting figure too. But who can actually say any Facebook ad served to them has been relevant in any way? I certainly can’t.
