Finagle’s Law (aka Sod’s Law)… Or is that Murphy’s Law?

I came across this today, it’s a formula to express “Anything that can go wrong, will“.
((U+C+I) x (10-S) / 20 x A x 1 / (1-sin(F/10))

U (urgency): 1 <= U <=9
C (complexity): 1 <= C <=9
I (importance): 1 <= I <=9
S (skill): 1 <= S <=9
F (frequency): 1 <= F <= 9
This equation was commissioned [...]

Conroy blunder, is he really our Communications Minister?

I am an IT professional, it is my trade and I take it seriously. But does Stephen Conroy take his seriously?
It is insulting to have so many botched attempts at Communications leadership coming from someone who clearly does not understand their portfolio. It is also embarrassing to make world headlines for backwards policy.
So what has [...]

Kindle in Australia – I just got mine, here are my thoughts 5 minutes in

Yes I have been looking forward to getting my hands on a Kindle, or perhaps even a Cool-er but Amazon got one here first.
I have had it out of the box for a few minutes and some things of note:

An amazing screen and so easy to read from.
Images aren’t too bad either.
The screen annoyingly flashes [...]

News content “will certainly be free online at the ABC.”

ABC boss Mark Scott has been quoted as saying:
“Much of the content, most of it, nearly all of it when you look at the totality of the web will be free”
“It will certainly be free online at the ABC.”
“The public pays for the ABC to deliver distinctive, quality content to them – and if it [...]

“Avoid to protect childhood memories”, oh how disappointing!

I was looking forward to seeing this. But now I am not. I am too distraught to say more.

Do I hide the Astro Boy figurine on my desk now in case I am mistaken for a fan of the movie?

Twitter usage up by 979% and Facebook users boom (Australia)

There was a time when Facebook was fading (I already think MySpace may as well be already gone) but things are picking up, well certainly here in Australia.
From smh.com.au:
FACEBOOK continues to bamboozle the experts with its growth in Australia, topping 8 million users last month and forcing companies to rethink the traditional use [...]

Trading Post to go completely online, while sacking 279

Michael Padden, Telstra Media’s head of classifieds, said in a statement on Monday:
“With print classifieds usage declining significantly across ad volumes, circulation and readership, it’s unviable to continue producing the weekly print publications.”
“Trading Post and Telstra are well placed to capitalise on changing consumer preferences with Australia’s leading classifieds brand and leading integrated online [...]
