I am travelling to Singapore soon and I was searching to find what electrical adapter I would need. Yes I have been to Singapore a number of times before but I always forget these things.
While it was easy to find out what plug Singapore uses, my first inclination of looking it up on the Lonely Planet World Guide was not a success at all. This surprised me, I thought they used to publish this under the “Practical” section. But perhaps I was wrong.
But all of that aside, I decided to blog it here so I would never forget again. Perhaps I will do this for every country I visit from now one…
Type G
- Mainly used in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Cyprus, Malta, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong.
- Two parallel flat pins with ground pin.
- Electricity in Singapore is 230 Volts, alternating at 50 cycles per second.

Just get yourself a universal power adapter:

I have a Fuji-branded equivalent of the above that I bought at an airport in London, it’s really handy not to have to worry about which plug to take where – some even have a USB plug for charging your iPhone
The only thing mine doesn’t accept is 3-prong Aussie plugs (no ground – but 2-prong laptop/phone chargers, etc are no problem)

Hey Lars!
I do have one of those – a Belkin one – but only one and with all the gadgets I own, I need to take an extra (normal) one.
I will buy another one soon.
