I was in a road vehicle accident in Melbourne on 4 October 2006. It was nasty but I survived, though I still have a number of permanent or ongoing issues including flashbacks, high blood pressure and more. I also found out some new issues while learning how to surf!
Yes I survived but my quality of life has been reduced. It has impacted my relationships, affected my health and continues to plague my mind.
But what really gets to me is this article: “Ombudsman lays into Alfred Hospital surgeon Thomas Kossmann”. If this link no longer works, I have a PDF of it available.
It has been alleged that Thomas Kossman “failed to act with integrity and placed his private interests ahead of his public duty”. Other allegations have also been made.
Thomas Kossman was in charge of my care.
Did I have the right care? How can I ever be sure? The Alfred and the TAC have a lot to answer for!
